New Chair at Screen Yorkshire

- Former Monty Python manager and producer of Brassed Off will head up film fund covering Yorkshire and Humberside

Producer Steve Abbott who used to manage the Monty Python Group with whom he founded Prominent Features and Prominent TV, has just been appointed as Chair to the newly created Screen Yorkshire regional fund.
The eight Regional Screen Agencies supported by the British Film Council will work on a range of activities in Yorkshire and Humberside (Central England) including training, production, exhibition, education and business development. Abbott whose acclaimed film Brassed Off was shot in Yorkshire, said: “I think the new agency is an exciting opportunity to help audiences, script writers, filmmakers and students to experience and enjoy film as much as I have always done”.
Joining Abbott at Screen Yorkshire is Jo Spreckley who currently runs the Yorkshire Media Training Consortium.
