AVEK helps documentaries & short films

AVEK, Finland’s Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture, allocated Euros 697,537 for 18 film projects, most of which documentaries, in September and October 2002. Script support was assigned to Suolaa, suolaa, enemmän suolaa a documentary about a Spanish man studying cooking in a famous Basque culinary institute, directed by Alvaro Pardo received a script support grant.
AVEK was established in 1987 by the joint Finnish copyright organization “Kopiosto” to promote cinema, video and television culture. It is responsible for the management of funds which arise from authors’ copyright entitlements, taxes on blank video tapes. These funds benefit copyright holders. AVEK also provides financial support to a variety of activities in the audiovisual field, with special emphasis on short film and documentary production. AVEK also provides training schemes and helps spread awareness of audiovisual culture.
