02/08/2002 - Gala events and parties at the 59th Venice Film Festival for VIPS and advertising maevens

Once again this year, Venice’s International Film Festival includes a number of high profile events. For the third year in a row, AMFAR (the American Foundation for AIDS Research) will host a fund-raising gala presided over by Lauren Bacall and sponsored by international jewellers, Bvlgari with a VIP guest list topped by Milla Jovovich, the star of the Resident Evil. The Red Cross is organizing a charity dinner at the Cloister of San Niccolò’s Church.
On September 5, Cinecittà Holding, the Regione Veneto, Treviso Province and Stream TV will host a gala dinner to celebrate the Michelangelo Antonioni retrospective and the Master’s landmark 90th birthday.
French car manufacturer, Citroen, is one of the festival’s official sponsors and their creative team has put together a review of their latest model, the C3 (that replaces the world-famous 2CV) with a number of ads made by some of the world’s most important film directors. Fans of architecture will delight in visiting the International Architecture Exhibition on concurrently to the Festival at the Arsenale in Venice.
