Miles Bullough is the executive producer of Angry Kid, a series of shorts that was created by Darren Walsh. Angry Kid is perfect for a digital media as Aardman used a locked-off camera. The background hardly changes, so the images render very well on the internet and on mobile phones. “We didn’t know at the time but that’s part of the luck that’s been behind Angry Kid”, explained Miles. Aardman signed an exclusive deal with Atom Films and became a launch partner for Atom Films. Aardman got a very favourable royalty rate from them. The rates Atom charge for advertising are the same rates per 1000 as networks in America, between 25 and 50 dollars per 1000 eyeballs. Their business model is that they put a small proportion of their advertising revenue aside for their content producers, around 10%. And they share the pool according to how popular their content is. If you had content that was the only thing watched in a particular month, you would get the whole month share of revenue. But Angry Kid is an exception. The free streaming video is still a problem as too much of it does not generate enough ads…
