has received the Kutxa - New Directors Award 2009 at San Sebastián Film Festival 2009.
Le Jour où Dieu est parti en voyage offers a new take on the Rwandan genocide, through the first person experience of one woman as the horror descends. Van Leeuw explains the genesis of the story, how he inspired the film from TV images of the massacre and how he builds up the plot.
