To highlight the beginning of the screenings of the three fimls finalists of the Lux Prize 2009, on November 10 the European Parliament organised a series of meetings and press conferences; exchanges of views on the LUX Prize between the Culture & Education Committee and the protagonists of the selected films; as well as the release of the DVD of The Edge of Heaven by German director Fatih Akin, subtitled in 30 languages; and the LUX on air TV debate broadcast by France 24.

Cineuropa met Doris Pack, Chairwoman, Committee on Culture and Education, European Parliament, Isabelle Durant, Vice-President of the European Parliament, Hanna Schygulla and Fatih Akin, actress and director of Auf den Anderen Seite, Lux Prize winner 2007, Kamen Kalev, director of Eastern Plays (contending for the 2009 LUX Prize), Klaus Maeck, Fatih Akin's producer, Philip Boëffard, producer of Welcome, (contending for the 2009 LUX Prize) and Christian Lüffe from the Goethe Institute.
