Director Keti Stamo, who is of Albanian heritage but grew up in Italy and Switzerland, has crafted Sons of Cain [+see also:

film profile], a dreamlike documentary that, through the eyes of seven children, calls into question the strict nature of the Kanun, the ancient code still observed to this day in some areas of Albania, which dictates a blood-for-blood approach. The film has been presented in the 18th Giornate degli Autori, in Venetian Nights.
