Montenegrin director Mato Uljarević presented his debut short, Urosh, in the Grand Competition - Short Film at this year's Animafest Zagreb. Through charcoal animation and surreal visuals, the film explores the life and inner world of renowned artist Uroš Tošković. In this video interview, Uljarević discusses the artistic and technical challenges of the project – from evoking Tošković's traumatic experiences and refining the charcoal aesthetic to casting the artist's voice and developing a poetic visual structure. Urosh was honoured with the Zlatko Grgić Award for Best First Film Made Outside an Educational Institution.
