We caught up with Iranian director Asghar Farhadi to discuss Parallel Tales, his second French-language feature, premiering in competition at the 79th Cannes Film Festival. Featuring an impressive ensemble led by Isabelle Huppert (in one of her longest and most layered screen appearances in recent years), Vincent Cassel, Pierre Niney, Virginie Efira and Adam Bessa, the film is loosely inspired by Krzysztof Kieślowski’s A Short Film About Love, turning its main character Tomek into Adam, a new kind of observer, artist, and story hacker.
