Island of S. Erasmo, Venice. Antonia is a lawyer navigating joys and difficulties of single motherhood. Discouraged by an increasingly precarious freelance career, she spends her mornings searching for alternatives. Her daughter Lena attends a mixed-age class at a primary school at risk of imminent closure. These isolated circumstances drive the little girl to roam the island and come into contact with other forms of animal life inhabiting that space between land and sea. As the water rises and the citizens of Venice begin to face up to their future, Antonia tries to reinvent the meaning of her legal practice.
