Swiss filmmakers Pauline Julier and Nicolas Chapoulier talk to us about their feature debut Les Indes, which draws inspiration from a historical event: the lengthy journey undertaken by the portrait of Maria Theresa of Austria, the Spanish Infanta, to its final destination of the court of Louis XIV, thus sealing the union between the French and Spanish monarchies after the Thirty Years' War. The movie is in competition in the 23rd Giornate degli Autori at Venice.
