Director and actress Gessica Généus joined us at the 79th Cannes Film Festival to discuss the experience of inhabiting both sides of the camera in her latest feature Mary Magdalene, screening in the Cannes Première section. Set between a brothel and a church standing opposite one another, the film explores the fragile encounters between two seemingly irreconcilable worlds. Blending love, spirituality, art and freedom, Généus crafts a vivid and richly textured portrait of contemporary Haiti.
