«Later on you will understand...», a phrase a mother utters to her son, enigmatic and heavy with undertones. A phrase that haunts. To interpret its meaning, Victor must first discover who is this woman, Rivka, who gave him life. From the young Jewish girl in love to the wounded pharmacist who suffered during the war, the son learns to know and recognise the shadows in his past. Through the painful memories his sick mother shares with him, Victor gradually pieces together the story of his maternal grandparents, French Jews of Russian origin, who were deported to a concentration camp where they died.
