Adapted by the director and Julien Boivent from Georges Simenon’s novel La mort de Belle, the story revolves around Pierre and Cléa who take in Belle, the daughter of a friend, for the year. The life they lead is peaceful to the point of losing all consistency, that is until the day that Belle is found dead. Pierre is accused of the crime and the police soon invade their home and their entire lives to boot…

Belle is produced by Marie-Jeanne Pascal on behalf of Macassar Productions and by Philippe Carcassonne for Ciné-@, in co-production with Prodlab and Caneo, and Belgium’s Artémis Production. Pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature film also enjoys support from the Ile-de-France region, as well as the SOFICA companies Cofimage and Sofitvciné. Photography is entrusted to Caroline Champetier (awarded the 2011 César and the 2022 Lumière in her speciality) while music comes courtesy of Bruno Coulais (nominated for an Oscar in 2005 and three times a winner at the César Awards). Distribution in French cinemas will be steered by KMBO and international sales by France tv distribution.
