An unmissable event for all lovers of extraordinary cinematographic experiences, Geneva’s Black Movie festival once again promises some frayed emotions. The festival's programme is organised around a series of thematic sections, including a selection of 121 films from 30 countries and 4 continents (Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe).

The 19th edition of the Black Movie festival will be celebrating queer aesthetics with a rich retrospective and a selection of contemporary films.

The Mauvais Genre Retroqueer 18+ selection will be honouring the spirit of filmmakers who attended the festival between 2001 and 2017, including: Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Tropical Malady) Brillante Mendoza (Serbis) and João Pedro Rodrigues (Phantom [+lee también:

). The Mauvais Genre 2018 section proposes a rich selection of 16 films, organised around the theme of misunderstanding. Among the selected young directors are: Anahita Ghazvinizadeh and the film They, selected for the Caméra d’Or at Cannes. An ode to creativity in opposition to the self-righteous environment dominated by an often-suffocating heteronormativity.

Along the same subversive lines, we find the Les Resistants section, packed full of films dedicated to strong women who have rebelled against power (and male domination). Black Movie welcomes to the occasion Dieudo Hamadi, who will be presenting his latest film Mama Colonel [+lee también:
