Principal photography has begun on Waiting for Anya, filming on location in Lescun, France, for five weeks. Directed by Ben Cookson (Almost Married) and adapted by Toby Torlesse from the novel of the same name by UK Children’s Laureate Michael Morpurgo (War Horse), Waiting for Anya is a drama set against the backdrop of the Second World War in Southern France. It follows young shepherd boy Jo, played by Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp, and his beloved grandfather, portrayed by European Film Award – Outstanding Achievement in World Cinema recipient Jean Reno (The Big Blue, Léon), and their remarkable involvement in smuggling Jewish children across the border into Spain.
