The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) has handed out its trophies on the eve of the awards ceremony of the 71st Cannes Film Festival. For the competition, the International Critics’ Prize crowned Burning by South Korean director Lee Chang-Dong.

For the Un Certain Regard selection, victory was claimed by Girl [+lee también:

ficha de la película] by Belgium’s Lukas Dhont (the lead actor in which was also awarded on the Un Certain Regard winners’ list). Produced by Belgian outfit Menuet, and co-produced by Frakas Productions and the Netherlands’ Topkapi, this feature debut is being sold by The Match Factory.

The FIPRESCI Prize for the parallel sections was bestowed upon One Day [+lee también:

entrevista: Zsófia Szilágyi
ficha de la película], the debut film by Hungarian director Zsófia Szilágyi, presented in the Critics’ Week, a FilmPartners, Sparks, Propclub and Hungarian Filmlab production sold by Films Boutique.

Furthermore, we should point out that the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury singled out Capharnaüm [+lee también:

ficha de la película] by Lebanon’s Nadine Labaki (staged by Lebanon, co-produced by France via Les Films des Tournelles and sold overseas by Wild Bunch), with a Special Mention going to BlacKkKlansman by the USA’s Spike Lee.
