), Portrait of a Lady on Fire takes place on an isolated island in Brittany at the end of the 18th century, and follows the story of an artist commissioned to paint a young woman’s wedding portrait. The film is a fresco of emotions and desire through which the director seeks to “portray the presence of a past love, and the long-term resonance of this past love within us, which goes some way to compensating its loss”. Filming for this Lilies Films production is scheduled to take place between 15 October and 10 December 2018.

(currently in post-production). Her next film, which focuses on a couple but also on the creative process, will be set on the little Swedish island of Farö, which Ingmar Bergman made his home, and where some of his great masterpieces were shot. At the heart of the tale are two filmmakers who have travelled to the island in search of inspiration. But things don’t go as planned. A strange distance takes root between the young woman and her husband. As the days go by, fiction melds with reality, and the island’s secrets gradually float to the surface … Handling the production of the picture are CG Cinéma (France), Plattform Produktion (Sweden), Bioskop Film (Germany) and Scope Pictures (Belgium).

Arte France Cinéma will also support the next feature film by Arnaud Desplechin : Oh Mercy! [+lee también:

, a Why Not production with Roschdy Zem, Léa Seydoux, Sara Forestier and Antoine Reinartz on the billing. Written by the director himself, in collaboration with Léa Mysius, the story focuses on police superintendent Daoud who, one Christmas night, makes his way through Roubaix, the town he has lived in his whole life, a world of burned out cars and altercations. Faced with misery, lies and turmoil, Daoud has a knack for uncovering the truth. This is a portrait of a world in crisis, with a clear mission: to give the guilty their humanity back.
