Reason by Indian filmmaker Anand Patwardhan has emerged as the winner of the Feature-Length Documentary Competition at the 31st edition of the IDFA, which runs from 14-25 November. The awards ceremony took place last night at the International Theatre Amsterdam.
The 240-minute film, Patwardhan's 15th as a director, is a wide-ranging examination of Indian society, where secular rationalists are hunted down as they attempt to stem the rising tide of religious and nationalist fundamentalism. The award includes a financial prize of €15,000.
