Stockholm-based NENT Group is one of the leading Nordic media and entertainment groups, operating TV channels, radio stations and streaming services in Scandinavia and Bulgaria. Its studios division currently comprises 32 companies based in 17 different countries, and its original productions include the high-end TV projects Hidden, Veni Vidi Vici, Swedish Dicks and Black Lake.

The joint venture is now assembling its core creative team and is set to collaborate with a number of British studios, professionals and co-producers. Furthermore, the deal will provide NENT Group with the first option to purchase exclusive Nordic broadcasting rights to all future productions by the joint venture.

Following the announcement, Basner and Milan Popelka, FilmNation’s COO, explained the strategic importance of this alliance and its ambitions: “Launching this innovative UK partnership is an exciting step in furthering our overall global strategy to serve as trusted, premium scripted content creators, and to continue to have our platform be a destination for the world’s best storytellers. At NENT Group, we have found forward-thinking, creatively aligned partners who see the exciting future of global entertainment the same way we do, and we’re thrilled to be joining forces with them in a territory that is home to such exceptional creative talent.”

Jensen, NENT Group’s president and CEO, added: “This milestone partnership with a major international studio creates numerous strategic benefits for NENT Group. We now have long-term access to some of the world’s most prestigious upcoming scripted content and co-own a high-growth company in the dynamic UK production market.”

Finally, FilmNation has confirmed that the television team based in Los Angeles will continue to develop and produce new content under the direction of Ben Browning and Stefanie Berk; meanwhile, NENT Group will soon exit Modern Times Group and plans on premiering 20 original audiovisual productions every year.
