Some great deals are in sight for Berlin-based companies Picture Tree International and m-appeal at this year’s European Film Market (7-15 February), with both agents handling sales for titles that will premiere in various sections of the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival

being showcased in the race for the Golden Bear, Picture Tree International looks set for a fruitful Berlinale. The Austrian drama, which stars Valerie PachnerMavie Hörbiger and Pia Hierzegger, centres on workaholic business consultant Lola, whose grip on reality slips away as her older sister Conny comes back into her life after a tragic event.

The Generation title My Extraordinary Summer With Tess [+lee también:

 is also among the features on the company’s slate. An adaptation of the successful novel of the same name by Anna WoltzSteven Wouterlood’s feature debut depicts a family holiday on the Dutch island of Terschelling. Sam, the youngest member of the family, gets drawn into an adventure when he meets an elusive girl named Tess.

Picture Tree International will also be presenting two German productions as part of the Lola@Berlinale screenings hosted by the German Film Academy. These are the German box-office hits The Boy Needs Some Fresh Air by Oscar winner Caroline Link and the buddy comedy 100 Things [+lee también:

Prospects are also bright for m-appeal, which will present Greta, the directorial debut by Brazil’s Armando Praça, in this year’s Panorama section. The film follows the story of a septuagenarian gay nurse named Pedro, who, in his attempt to gain access to a vacant hospital bed for his transgender friend Daniela, helps an arrested and wounded criminal to escape.

Furthermore, the sales agent will be showcasing Happy Ending by Denmark’s Hella Joof at the EFM. The romantic comedy about the beauty of ageing focuses on Helle and Peter, an elderly couple. Having awaited her workaholic husband’s retirement for a long time, and eager to finally start exploring the world with him, Hella is taken aback when Peter informs her that he is pursuing a new career as a wine importer and has invested all of their savings in his new business. The company will also be screening Michael Idov’s The Humorist at the industry event.

m-appeal’s EFM line-up boasts five additional titles: Ash Mayfair’s The Third Wife, an award-winning drama set in the 19th century, revolving around a teenage Vietnamese bride; Michal Aviad’s Working Woman [+lee también:
