Seasoned director Bernard Stora hasn’t worked in film for almost 20 years, choosing to focus on fiction television after his last film A Major Inconvenience. This changed on 20 May, when he began shooting his 5th feature: The Case (Villa Caprice).

The cast includes Niels Arestrup, who won the César for Best Supporting Actor in 2006, 2010 and 2014 for The Beat That My Heart Skipped [+lee también:

Les Arcs November Internal

Written by the director (who was nominated for a Best Screenplay César in 1986 for An Impudent Girl) with Pascale Robert-Diard and Sonia Moyersoen, the script centres on Luc Germon (Arestrup), a famous lawyer who thinks he’s got it made until he gets a new client, Gilles Fontaine (Bruel), one of the most powerful company owners in France. The latter is suspected of having acquired a wonderful property, the Caprice Villa, under suspicious circumstances. Humiliated and furious to have been duped, Fontaine relies on Germon’s skills to get him out of this mess. But after a strange turn of events, the two men, though supposed to be allies, soon begin to compete against each other...

Produced by Jean-Pierre Guérin and Thierry de Clermont-Tonnerre for JPG Films, and by David Grumbach for Bac Films (which will handle French distribution and international sales), The Case is co-produced by France 3 Cinéma and by Umedia from Belgium. Pre-bought by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature is also supported by the Île-de-France region, Sofica Manon, and SG Images. The shoot is set to last six weeks in Paris and on the Côte d’Azur.
