After Klappe Cowboy! and Pace, Cowboy, Pace, actor Timo Jacobs (best known for his solid body of work on TV) has Stand Up!, his third feature as a director (as well as lead actor and producer, through his company Timo Jacobs Production), in the editing room. The story, written by Jacobs and Federico Avino, and set entirely in Berlin, revolves around Charlie Schwarzer, a former star on the German stand-up comedy scene whose success seems to have run dry and who is drowning in debt. To top it all off, he gets dumped by the woman he thinks is the love of his life, Emilie.

As Charlie tries to solve all three problems – professional, sentimental and financial – his father-in-law offers him a chance to extricate himself from his desperate situation, but his offer seems like one he shouldn’t refuse but also one he should stay away from at the same time. Suddenly, Charlie really wants to find out which it is, and embarks on a journey to discover what makes us human.

The cast of this tragicomedy also includes Alina Levshin, Pegah Ferydoni (Emilie), Katy Karrenbauer, Dieter Landuris, Rolf Kanies and Lana Cooper. The DoP is Nuno Martini, and the editing has been entrusted to Sarah Clara Weber (Quiet as a Mouse, Moon Man [+lee también:
