Starting with the 15th Crossroads Co-Production Forum, the winner of the Co-Production Award provided by Greek post-production company 2/35 was The Land Beyond, a mythical tale of a mute young girl, the fiction feature debut from Egyptian filmmaker Nadine Salib. The story is set in an isolated village built by an exiled community which avoids speaking of the past. When Yam’s mother dies unexpectedly, Yam has to erase all memories of her existence, but she wants to keep with her the sound of a lullaby that her mother used to sing to her. The project is produced by Hala Lotfy (Hassala).

The CNC Award, worth €8,000 for script development, went to the Greek project The Gospel According to Kimon, the feature debut from Neritan Zinxhiria. The story follows Kimon who, four years after their breakup, is still continuously stalking his ex-girlfriend Eva. When Eva agrees to do anything to stop this, Kimon asks her to hurt the boyfriend she left him for, but things will take a tragic turn. The project is produced by Vasilis Chrysanthopoulos (PLAYS2PLACE).

The two Special Mentions where bestowed upon Iris, the coming-of-age feature debut by Cypriot writer-director Myrsini Aristidou, and the sophomore feature effort Leyla by Erol Mintaş (Song of my Mother [+lee también:

by Italian director Matteo Tortone, which is being produced by Alexis Taillant and Nadège Labé (Wendigo Films). The jury’s justification was: “For its impressive visual approach and for how Matteo treated the search of gold in putting it in relation with the Devil. Shot at the high altitude of 5,300m in Lima, protected at all times by security, he succeeds to create an intimate and powerful atmosphere”.

Finally, the MuSou Award, for composition and production of an original film score, music supervision and assistance in licensing of commercial music for use in the film, as well as audio post-production services, was granted to The Voyage Out, “an innovative experimental film on an urgent timely subject that is the toxic disaster of Fukushima”, directed by Brazilian director Ana Vaz.
