Following the online edition of the FIDLab co-production platform (read the news) from 6-10 July, it’s a return to the physical realm and to real screening rooms with the 31st edition of FIDMarseille which begins today and will last five days. The programme includes 82 films, 50 of them representing 28 countries in the festival’s four competitive strands (with 46 world premieres and 4 international premieres).

This year’s edition also includes a new transversal competition called Flash, in addition to the competition that brings together first features and films vying for the Cnap award. It is worth noting that, for the first time, equality is perfect across all competitions, with as many male as female directors in each and every competitive strand.

The 2020 FIDMarseille will pay homage to German filmmaker Angela Schanelec who will receive the Grand Prix d'Honneur, as well as spotlight a few films starring the recently departed Michel Piccoli. Playing out of competition will be, among other titles, Man, That Sick Old Animal from French director Simone Fluhr and Swiss production Bird Island [+lee también:
