Spring is already here as a launching slogan for the very attractive lineup of French international sales agent Kinology (headed by Grégoire Melin) set to be presented at the European Film Market (online, from 1 to 5 March) of the 71st edition of the Berlinale.

Pre-sales will begin on five new enticing titles in post-production, including three films from female filmmakers: The Divide (La Fracture) from French director Catherine Corsini (read the article – starring Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Pio Marmaï and Marina Foïs), Rose from her fellow countrywoman Aurélie Saada (article - with Françoise Fabian heading the cast) and the psychological thriller The Girl’s Room from Finnish director Aino Suni (read our interview with producer Ulla Simonen) which explores teenage fantasies and toxic rivalries among the French Riviera’s golden youth, set to the beat of rap music and scored by Jean-Benoit Dunckel (Air).

Pre-sales will also be launched on The Third Grade (CE2) from well-known and experienced French filmmaker Jacques Doillon. Produced by Arena Films, the feature (which will be distributed in France by Apollo Films) centres on Claire, an 8-year-old girl who is constantly bullied at school by her classmate Kevin, but discovers that the boy who is giving her a hard time is also suffering and might need her help.

Another new arrival in the lineup is Morning Calm (Matin calme) from eclectic French director Denis Dercourt (The Page Turner [+lee también:

). Produced by The French Connection with South Korea and Belgium, this new film features Olga Kurylenko, Yeon-Seok Yoo and Jiwon Ye for a journey to Seoul where a series of gruesome murders leads the Korean investigation police to seek help from world-renowned French doctor Alice Launey, who has developed a revolutionary technique for recognising bodies. With more corpses on the way and a mysterious organ trafficking ring uncovered, things are about to get more dangerous in the land of the morning calm...

At the online EFM, Kinology will no doubt create the buzz with the unveiling of trailers for two of its most eagerly anticipated films: Mia Hansen-Løve’s Bergman Island (with its very high end cast including Luxembourg-born actress Vicky Krieps, English actor Tim Roth, Australian actress Mia Wasikowska and Norwegian actor Anders Danielsen Lie) and Leos Carax’s Annette (with world famous stars Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard heading the cast).

Another trailer to be unveiled at the EFM is that for Franco-Belgian co-production Eugénie Grandet by Marc Dugain (An Ordinary Execution, The Royal Exchange [+lee también:

), freely adapted from Balzac’s famous novel of the same name and starring Joséphine Japy, Olivier Gourmet, Valérie Bonneton and César Domboy. A High Sea production with Tribus P Films and Scope Pictures which will be distributed in France by Ad Vitam.

Also shining bright in the sales agent’s post-production slate is Franco-Israeli title Ahed’s Knee (Le genou) by Nadav Lapid and After Blue (Paradis sale) by French director Bertrand Mandico (article).
