Produced by Bianca Film together with RAI Cinema, and distributed by Adler Entertainment Italia, Grande’s debut feature film was the only Italian title to be presented in competition at the 38th Turin Film Festival, which unspooled online at the end of November, last year. The director says he started with the essay by the psychoanalyst Massimo Recalcati “Il complesso di Telemaco”, which tackles issues surrounding the absence and death of father figures, to explore the unbreakable bond between 15-year-old Regina (Ginevra Francesconi), who dreams of becoming a singer, and her father Luigi (Francesco Montanari) who gave up his musical career to be with his daughter following her mother’s death. Part genre film and part coming-of-age tale, Regina is set in an unusual and intimate rendering of Calabria.

Freaks Out, meanwhile, which was announced at the end of 2018 (with shooting having commenced in April), became a cult film before the first teaser trailer was even released in October 2020. Hopes are sky-high for this film by Gabriele Mainetti, who also directed the multiple-award-winning box office hit They Call Me Jeeg [+lee también:

. After a complicated post-production experience owing to problems with visual effects, the pandemic has since caused the film’s release via 01 Distribution to be postponed indefinitely. Set in Nazi-occupied Rome in 1943, Freaks Out is an Italian-Belgian co-production by Lucky Red, Goon Films and GapBusters in collaboration with RAI Cinema. The cast stars Claudio Santamaria, Pietro Castellitto, Giancarlo Martini, Giorgio Tirabassi and Aurora Giovinazzo.

Likewise featuring on RAI Com’s list is Yaya e Lennie - The Walking Liberty, the new animated film by Alessandro Rak. Following on from The Art of Happiness [+lee también:
