Each year, around 25 projects for films and series for young audiences are selected, which are either in development or works in progress, while a couple more projects are featured in the market presentation section. For this year’s event, which will take place from 29 September-1 October, producers can submit their projects until 31 May, and further information about the call can be found here. There is no submission fee. Owing to the lack of clarity regarding the situation at the moment, it is yet to be determined whether the event will be held online, offline in Warsaw or in hybrid form.

In detail, to be eligible, projects must be feature-length films or series for young audiences, which can be live-action, documentary, animation or transmedia, and they must be seeking funding, co-producers, distributors, sales agents, broadcasters and festivals. The main focus will be put on the European projects in development, at an early stage of production or in post-production, but submissions are also open to projects from outside Europe. For the first time, producers can submit their projects to the market presentation section, which is open to projects currently shooting or at the post-production stage that are seeking a sales agent, international distributors or festivals.

Attended annually by more than 200 guests, the Decision Makers and Investors strand is on the lookout for promising projects. In previous years, some of the forum’s guests have included representatives of Netflix, ViacomCBS, Arri, Indie Sales, New Europe Film Sales, LevelK, TVP, KiKa, RTV Slovenija, Windrose, Platige Image, Beta Film, Film Republic and Canal+ Polska. Apart from the pitching sessions and meetings, the Kids Kino Industry programme also includes a number of master classes, case studies, consultations, panels, networking opportunities and many other activities.

The Kids Kino International Film Festival, Kids Kino Lab and Kids Kino Industry are organised by the New Horizons Association’s Educational Department, a non-governmental organisation founded in 2003 by Roman Gutek. Its main objective is the promotion and popularisation of unconventional, artistically challenging cinema. Kids Kino Industry is co-financed by Creative Europe – MEDIA, the Polish Film Institute and the City of Warsaw.
