Adapted by the two directors from Nicolas Mathieu’s novel of the same name (awarded the Goncourt Prize in 2018), the story (based on a provisional mini-synopsis) takes us back to August 1992: we’re faced with a remote valley somewhere in the East where blast furnaces no longer burn, a lake and a blisteringly hot afternoon. Anthony is 14 years old, and he and his cousin decide to steal a canoe to pass the time and to take a look at what’s happening across the water, on the famous nudist beach. For Anthony, it leads to a first love and a first, seminal summer to determine all others: the drama of a life just beginning…

And Their Children After Them is produced by Hugo Sélignac on behalf of Chi Fou Mi Productions and by Alain Attal for Trésor Films, in co-production with France 3 Cinéma. Pre-purchased by Canal+, HBO Max and France Télévisions, the feature film also enjoys support from the Grand Est region and from the department of Vosges where the 55-day film shoot is unfolding, with Augustin Barbaroux (Teddy, Wild Seas [+lee también:
