11 feature films have been selected for aid (€3.1m in total), as granted today, 19 November, by the Ile-de-France region.

Stealing focus among these works is Consent [+lee también:

, the big screen adaptation of Vanessa Springora’s best-selling book of the same name, which explores how she found herself under the power of a famous writer. She was 13 years old back in 1986, while he was almost 50. She explains how she was the victim of predatory behaviour on three counts: sexual, literary and psychological. But over and above her personal story, she questions the excesses of that time and the complaisance of a world blinded by talent and fame. Set to commence filming next year with Jean-Paul Rouve and Kim Higelin in its cast, this will be Vanessa Filho’s second feature film on the heels of Angel Face [+lee también:

(unveiled in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section in 2018). Steered by Moana Films and Windy Production, Consent will be backed by the Ile-de-France region to the tune of 345,000 euros.

Jostling among the other six fiction feature films selected for support are two projects previously awarded aid by the CNC’s genre films fund (read our news): Incarnation by Mael Le Mée (a first feature film produced by Bobi Lux which will receive 357,500 euros) and Acide [+lee también:

, awarded Cannes’ Critics’ Week label in 2020) which is produced by Bonne Pioche Cinéma and is set to receive 466,000 euros.

Likewise gracing the list of the lucky few fictitious works, we find Le parfum vert [+lee también:

 by Nicolas Pariser (produced by Bizibi – awarded 356,000 euros), Police Fever by Benjamin Lehrer (Chabraque Productions – awarded 303,000 euros), Under the Rainbow by Bryan Marciano (Eliph Productions – 357,500 euros) and Neneh Superstar by Ramzi Ben Sliman.

Of note among the three documentaries selected by the region is Trois femmes puissantes, which is directed by Sébastien Lifshitz (who won an array of awards for Adolescentes [+lee también:

) and produced by Agat Films et Cie (awarded 85,000 euros). The other two titles are Les Picasso by Nicolas Sene (produced by Empreinte Cinéma – 65,000 euros) and After The Evil by Tamara Erde (Gloria Films Production – 85,000 euros).

Last but not least, and rounding off the list of supported movies is the animated feature Dans la forêt sombre et mystérieuse by Vincent Paronnaud and Alexis Ducord (produced by Je Suis Bien Content – 331,500 euros).

The Ile-de-France region has also awarded 22 subsidies within the framework of its Audiovisual Support Fund (to the overall tune of €2.8m), notably to Xavier Giannoli’s fictitious series project Tikoun (6x52 mins - produced by Curiosa Films for Canal + and backed to the tune of 455,000 euros), in addition to ten subsidies for finished films, five of which going to feature-length documentaries, including Jane Campion, la femme cinéma by Julie Bertuccelli (produced by Les Films du Poisson).
