) from Anne-Isabelle Lacassagne’s novel Des femmes en noir, the story begins when an old priest passes away and those in charge of his diocese discover that he was actually a woman. She had carried out her vocation for years without anyone suspecting a thing. Produced by Bruno Lévy on behalf of Move Movie with co-production outsourced to Terence Films, Magnificat has been pre-purchased by OCS and benefits from an advance on receipts from the CNC, as well as support from the Ile-de-France region (where almost all of the film was shot, apart from a brief foray into the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, with Noémie Gillot at the wheel of photography). Distribution in France and international sales will both be steered by Orange Studio.
