Shooting wrapped on Sunday 30 January, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region, on Greta e le favole vere, a movie directed by Berardo Carboni (Shooting Silvio, Youtopia [+lee también:

ficha de la película]) and written by the director himself in league with Fabio Di Ranno and Valeria Giasi. Filming unfolded over a six-week period in Rome and the Trentino-Alto Adige region, resulting in this family-friendly tale about the environment which homes in on a little girl who wants to follow in Greta Thunberg’s footsteps.

The  cast stars Raoul Bova, Donatella Finocchiaro, Sabrina Impacciatore, Federico Cesari and Demetra Bellina, as well as super-young actors Sara Ciocca and Mattia Garaci, alongside Darko Perić (Helsinki in Money Heist). “We decided to focus on a family film which could showcase a director as talented and visionary as Berardo Carboni and this high calibre cast, who came together to tell this beautiful story”, explained Pegasus founder Ilaria Dello Iacono. “It’s a modern tale which speaks directly to viewers’ hearts because it takes a poignant approach to tackling a theme which concerns us all and will increasingly concern us going forwards: looking after the environment”.

Greta is nine years old and she’s a dab hand at hanging the Christmas decorations with her babysitter Katy. The little girl believes in Father Christmas so badly that she decides to take a little letter to her neighbour Nicola who has told her that she’s Father Christmas’s personal assistant. Obviously, Nicola has lied to her, and when she’s unmasked by Greta, she confesses not to have any relationship whatsoever with Father Christmas. Seeking the little girl’s forgiveness, Nicola - who’s a brilliant illustrator - designs an animated tale for Greta which will ultimately change her life: the protagonist of the tale is Greta Thunberg, a little girl with the same name as her, who managed to change the world by bringing the planet’s environmental problems to the fore, and whose determination proved inspirational to millions of other kids.

Greta wants to follow her example too and, for this reason, she tries to save Rock, a baby bear with whom she forges a sweet and magical relationship. Rock was taken from Norway by wicked crooks Igor and Valentina who are also foster carers for a little boy called Sauro. Greta and Sauro become friends and, one day, unbeknownst to Greta’s parents and with the help of Nicola and Katy, they think up a plan to get Rock (now re-named Libera [“Free”]) back to Norway. Will Greta and Sauro succeed in their mission? Or will they be stopped by the evil duo who will stop at nothing to get their clutches on the bear cub? The two children embark upon an adventure full of surprises and emotion, which they will never forget.
