The awards for the Generation Kplus and Generation 14plus sections of the 72nd Berlin Film Festival have just been unveiled. Starting with Generation 14plus, the youth jury, comprising Luise Dahns, Christian Fock, Quintus Gramowski, Viola Weiser and Helene Zschaubitz, awarded the Crystal Bear for Best Film to the documentary Alis [+lee también:

, directed by Clare Weiskopf and Nicolas van Hemelryck. The jury described it as “A moving film which creates unbelievable closeness and intimacy using the simplest of means. The protagonists and the audience are all confronted with pain and memories, but in a gentle manner. How do we manage to come to terms with our past without falling apart in the process? The film answers this question with impressive honesty and directness.” For its part, drug addiction drama Stay Awake by Jamie Sisley received a Special Mention in this line-up

As for the international jury including Paolo Bertolin, Rubika Shah, and Dash Shaw, and its prizes sponsored by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, the Grand Prix for Best Film in the Generation 14plus section, endowed with €7,500, was awarded jointly to Olivia Rochette and Gerard-Jan Claes’ documentary Kind Hearts [+lee también:

for “effortlessly immersing us inside the lives of two ordinary young people, sharing sensitive insights about their emotional growth, while reminding us of the unpredictable and elusive nature of the thing we call love”, and to Skhema by Farkhat Sharipov, which is “an intimate lens through which to observe the darker challenges facing young people today.”

As for the Generation Kplus section, the children’s jury, consisting of Tilda Aue, Maria Fock, Connar Beck Lowe, Henri Marioth, Leonardo Urrutia Schwarze, Kerstin Teichmann and Ida Lilli Zschaubitz, picked Comedy Queen [+lee también:

by Colm Bairéad, meanwhile, was singled out for a Special Mention in the Generation Kplus competition.

The latter was also rewarded by the Generation Kplus international jury, sponsored by the Children’s Charity of Germany and including Daniela Cajías, Nicola Jones, Samuel Kishi Leopo, who bestowed their Grand Prix for Best Film, endowed with 7,500 Euros, upon Colm Bairéad’s The Quiet Girl, a film with “a sensitive story full of details about childhood, grief, parenthood and rebuilding family.” Shabu [+lee también:
