On Monday 4 April, Screen Ireland, the country’s audiovisual agency, unveiled Screen Pass, a brand-new online self-led health and safety training course which will be available free of charge for all professionals working in the Irish screen sector.
According to the announcement published on the body’s official website, Screen Pass “was developed on the back of the new Health & Safety guide for the sector published in late 2021” and “contains key information on preventing accidents and encouraging a positive health and safety culture on set.”
Moreover, the training course was developed with input from key industry stakeholders and professionals such as Karen Cummins, Health & Safety Consultant with the Chris Mee Group, representatives from Screen Guilds of Ireland and Jo Homewood, Line Producer.
In detail, the course will cover critical topics such as “promoting a safety culture, duties and responsibilities of employers and employees, hazard identification, risk assessments and personal health and well-being.”
Screen Ireland added that it plans to launch a number of other online, self-led training courses for free throughout the year to support the Irish screen sector. Topics covered by these new courses include unconscious bias, bullying and harassment as well as bystander intervention.
Eligible professionals can register for the Screen Pass training course by clicking here.
