The 75th Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film (running 17 – 25 May) looks set to be a very busy one for the SND international sales team: the team led by Ramy Nahas (with the support of Clara Flageollet-Schmit and François Nicolas-Descombes) will be brandishing a whopping 18-title line-up.

Stealing focus among their offerings are four new films, including The Braid by Laetitia Colombani (based on her bestselling novel which sold 2 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 40 languages), which stars American actress Kim Raver, Italy’s Fotini Peluso and India’s Mia Maelzer. The story interweaves three lives, three women, three continents and three struggles. In India, Smita is an Untouchable who dreams of seeing her daughter escape her miserable condition and attending school. In Italy, Giulia works in her father’s workshop, but when he falls victim to an accident, she realises the family business is bankrupt. In Canada, well-known lawyer Sarah is about to be promoted to the head of her firm when she learns that she’s ill. They might not know one another, but Smita, Giulia and Sarah are all unwittingly linked by their innermost worlds and uniqueness. This production steered by French firms Curiosa Films and Moana Films is set to be pre-sold by SND, in Cannes, on the basis of its script.

Also arriving in the agent’s line-up is the animated title in production The Jungle Bunch: World Tour by Laurent Bru and Yannick Moulin, which is the sequel to the first hit instalment released in 2017. Overseen by Tat Productions, SND will be pre-selling this movie on the basis of a mood reel.

Pre-sales based on scripts are likewise due to kick off for the comedies Ooh La La! by Julien Hervé (starring Christian Clavier, Didier Bourdon, Sylvie Testud and Marianne Denicourt) and Jeff & Jean-Marc’s Adventures by Pierre-François Martin-Laval (starring ventriloquist and comedian Jeff Panacloc in the lead role).

Pre-sales based on promo reels will also continue for feature films in post-production Killing Blues by Cecilia Rouaud (starring François Damiens, William Lebghil and Vanessa Paradis, and telling the tale of a hired killer who’s afraid of blood), A Great Friend by Éric Besnard (starring Lambert Wilson, Grégory Gadebois and Marie Gillain in lead roles) and the comedy Tricky Old Dogs 2 [+lee también:
