RAI Com’s line-up at the Marché du Film – unfolding within the Cannes Film Festival (17-25 May) – includes some of the most successful names on the Italian and international film circuit, as well as young directors who are looking to make names for themselves, with films ranging from romantic comedies to horror.

, which is produced by Lebowski in league with RAI Cinema and was released in Italian cinemas on 24 February, is a costume drama set in the provinces (the enchanting Ascoli Piceno) in the late Thirties, toplined by Riccardo Scamarcio and Benedetta Porcaroli. A Fascist sympathiser, like most Italians at the time, he owns a restaurant seemingly isolated from the outside world. She, on the other hand, is looking for work… Their meeting transforms both their lives.

is an Italian-Belgian co-production by Propaganda Italia Production and Gapbusters which is touted as a drama with shades of horror. It’s the second work by Paolo Strippoli who made his debut alongside Roberto De Feo via A Classic Horror Story [+lee también:

(scooping Best Director at the Taormina FF). Described by the production team as a coming of (r)age tale, Flowing is set in a version of Rome which feels like it could explode at any point. The cast stars Fabrizio Rongione and Cristiana DellAnna (read our news).

, meanwhile, produced by Groenlandia with RAI Cinema, is a sensitive romantic comedy which has only just been released in Italian cinemas and is directed by newcomer Giulia Louise Steigerwalt, who previously developed a short film by the same title. The film’s protagonists include Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Barbara Ronchi and Thony.

Yet to arrive in cinemas, the new movie by Oscar-winner Gabriele Salvatores stars Toni Servillo and Sara Serraiocco in its cast. Helmed by Indiana Production, Il ritorno di Casanova is based on Arthur Schnitzler’s novel of the same name and tells the story of an established Italian director who refuses to accept the passing of time and decides to focus on Casanova in his final film (read our news).

The tricky world of youth football forms the setting of Salvatore Allocca’s Mancino naturale [+lee también:

(Emma Film and Promenades Films), starring Claudia Gerini and super young talent Alessio Parinelli.

(Eliso Cinema) by master of comedy Fausto Brizzi, who directs Alessandro Preziosi and a bunch of bothersome kids in a film-style akin to that of American franchise Look Who’s Talking.

Damiano Michieletto chooses the musical genre to tell a modernised story about Giacomo Puccini’s opera character Gianni Schicchi (Albedo Production, Genoma Films, Do Consulting & Production).
