Given out for the very first time within this 11th edition of Série Series (which unspooled from 30 June-2 July in Fontainebleau – read our article), the brand-new Gloria Prize (sponsored by Palatine), which rewards authors and producers of series projects placing women centre stage in the creative process or in content creation, was won by Solo (working title), a project written by Eliane Montane and produced by Sophie Révil on behalf of Escazal Films.

Solo’s story revolves around Mone who has been living alone with her daughter for 15 years and who asserts her singledom with feminist discourse and gusto. But when a childhood crush gets back in contact and rekindles their flame, Mone’s convictions go up in smoke and she finds herself forced to question her thirst for freedom…

The jury composed of Pauline Dauvin, Audrey Ismaël, Julien Lilti, Philippe Pettini, Barbara Schulz and Cathy Verney also handed out two Special Mentions. One of these went to Petite bête (working title), which is written by Maya Haffar and Mehdi Ouahab, produced by Eugénie Michel Villette (Les Films du Bilboquet) and Julie Perris (Zadig Productions), and which follows Lucile, a developer within a start-up company specialising in urban innovation who has just moved into a charming three-room apartment with her partner in central Paris. The young woman leads a peaceful existence, which her discrete and disciplined nature has never led her to question, until the day she discovers bedbug bites on a remote part of her body…

The second Special Mention was won by Sans alcool (working title), penned by Claire Touzard and Anne Cissé, and produced by Priscilla Siney (Summertime). The story follows in the wake of Charlie who stopped drinking a year previously. She has written a diary of her sobriety over the course of a few weeks and is now gearing up to get it published. It represents a second chance for her: it will allow her to relaunch her career and keep her head above water financially. But the book sets a cat amongst the pigeons. Its promotion forces Charlie into the limelight and re-awakens an old demon: social anxiety…
