The winners of the Golden Globe Awards were announced last night in Los Angeles. Broadcast on TV after last year’s event was ditched and reduced to an announcement on social networks, the ceremony saw the participation of practically all of the nominees, A-listers from the film industry, which was therefore good news for the awards organised by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). In any case, European participation was minimal owing to the low number of nominees from the Continent (see the news).

However, one of the few European productions in the mix, which happened to be the most-nominated film of this edition, ended up winning the highest number of awards. Martin McDonagh's Irish-British-US co-production The Banshees of Inisherin [+lee también:

, which had received no fewer than eight nominations, won the statuettes for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, Best Screenplay and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for Colin Farrell (who previously won the Volpi Cup at Venice last September for this role, and who is now placed as the frontrunner for the Oscars).

As for the Best Motion Picture, Non-English Language category, the two European films nominated (Edward Berger's All Quiet on the Western Front [+lee también:
