Friday saw the final clapperboard slam on Un monde violent, the debut fiction feature film by Maxime Caperan (who turned heads with his short film Les guerriers and his documentary Les enfants de la patrie). Written by the director, in league with Thomas Finkielkraut (whom he met while studying in La Fémis’ Series department), the screenplay (a finalist for the 2019 Junior Screenplay Award) revolves around two brothers, Sam and Paul, who work in a warehouse in central France and who organise for the heist of a truck packed full of smartphones. But the truck driver fights back and subsequently dies. The two brothers find themselves sucked into a spiral of violence…

Produced by Charles Philippe on behalf of Les Films du Clan, Un monde violent was mainly shot in the French region of Creuse, as well as in Limoges, between 16 January and 24 February, with Éva Sehet heading up photography.
