The MFI Script 2 Film Workshops training programme, organised by the Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI), has extended the call for its 2023 session. The programme offers a platform for effective script and project development of European and international fiction features, series projects, and feature-length documentaries. It consists of four intensive workshop sessions with a focus on group work, masterclasses, lectures, plenary sessions, case studies, and individual consultations, providing a comprehensive development methodology for participating projects.

As in previous editions, the MFI Script 2 Film Workshops aims to produce solid screenplays having a strong dramatic impact on international audiences. At the same time, the programme equips participants with the tools required to establish an effective project development process, including presentation, financing, and co-production formation, thus enhancing the marketability and potential of participating projects.

Additionally, a select number of spots are reserved for training future script-development professionals, including screenwriters, script consultants, trainers, commissioning editors, producers, and decision-makers. These individuals will gain practical experience and hone their skills by working as assistant trainers alongside the programme's tutors during the development of participating projects' scripts.

After receiving a number of last-minute applications, the MFI has extended the deadline for the 2023 MFI Script 2 Film Workshops. Applicants with a project now have until 20 March to apply, while those without projects have until 10 April. All relevant information on the programme is available on the official website.

The 2023 edition of the MFI Script 2 Film Workshops will commence with a first session running 23 June to 6 July on the Greek island of Nisyros. The second session will take place online in August and September, while the third session will unfold on the island of Rhodes in late October. The programme will culminate with the fourth and final sessions online in January 2024.

To be eligible for the programme, European and international creative teams composed of screenwriters, producers, and directors must have a feature-length fiction film (Film Lab), feature documentary (Doc Lab), or TV series (Series Lab) project in development.

The MFI Script 2 Film Workshops initiative is supported by the Creative Europe – MEDIA programme, in partnership with ERT SA. It is funded by the General Secretariat for the Aegean and Island Policy, the Municipalities of Nisyros and Rhodes.
