The Frontières Platform is set to return to Cannes' Marché du Film for another year, presenting a selection of horror, science-fiction, comedy and avant-garde storytelling from emerging talents in the genre film industry. The genre-focused event will take place from 20-21 May and will showcase 14 projects (divided into two groups) for industry professionals. The Frontières Platform is co-organised with the Fantasia International Film Festival.
The Frontières Proof of Concept Presentation, taking place on Saturday 20 May, will feature seven projects at advanced stages of financing. Participants will present their completed teaser trailers to potential future partners. The selection includes a story set in a post-apocalyptic desert from Montenegro, an eco-thriller from Germany and a Norwegian romantic folk-horror set during the Black Death, among others.
On Sunday 21 May, the Frontières Buyers’ Showcase will feature seven film projects in post-production or which have recently been completed. Some of their footage will be screened to potential buyers, sales agents and festival programmers. The selection includes a supernatural revenge story from the USA, a Swiss sci-fi computer thriller revolving around AI and parenthood, a Ukrainian post-apocalyptic space story and an adapted zombie story from Canada, among others. Both pitching session events will be held at the Marché du Film in Cannes and will be available for viewing on the Marché du Film Online platform.
