Rome’s MIA - International Audiovisual Market is set to host the 3rd Green Film Lab workshop at the end of its nineth edition, running 13 – 15 October. The Green Film Lab is a programme led by TorinoFilmLab and Green Film, and organised by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema and the Trentino Film Commission in collaboration with EAVE.
Offering up 3-day workshops unfolding in various European regions in collaboration with film institutions, the Green Film Lab promotes sustainable practices in audiovisual production and advises professionals on how to apply green protocols, which can then be used to gain certification.
Held entirely in English, the workshop is open to professionals active in the film and series industries, as well as fund managers, film commissions, and institutions and professionals working in sustainability. The experts involved include Head of Studies, producer and TFL alumnus Giovanni Pompili; founder of Neptune Environmental Solutions Louise Marie Smith; writer and director Lucie Trémolières, who has specific expertise in the different emotive responses to the environmental crisis, and expert assistant director and sustainability consultant Dörte Schneider Garcia.
Taking a hands-on approach and working on real projects, participants will learn how to put into practice the best and most recent procedures relating to energy savings, transportation, accommodation, catering, set preparation, waste management, recycling and communications, in audiovisual production contexts. Attendees will also get to build relationships with local and European professionals who share the same desire to adopt and promote sustainable approaches. Training activities will be based on the Green Film Rating System and its two main characteristics: sustainability plans and the certification process for audiovisual projects.
24 participants will be selected to take part in the workshop. The application process is open until Friday 4 September 2023 with the names of the selected participants set to be announced in mid-September.
