A new Sky original series, titled Small Town, Big Story, is now in production on location in Ireland. The six-part show, penned and helmed by Chris O’Dowd, sees an Irish village taken over by a Hollywood production, shedding light on “a secret that’s been kept hidden since the eve of the millennium.” The project is described as “a warm and witty, very dramatic comedy,” set in the fictional town of Drumbán, “a rural village of rattled misfits on the border of Ireland and another world.”
The cast is toplined by Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) and Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon). Hendricks will portray Wendy Patterson, a TV producer who returns to her hometown from Los Angeles, bringing a Hollywood production with her, whilst Considine will star as Drumbán’s local doctor, Seamus Proctor.

Small Town, Big Story is a production by Playground and FilmNation Entertainment in association with Sky Studios. The executive producers are Colin Callender and Scott Huff for Playground (UK), Stefanie Berk and Milan Popelka for FilmNation Entertainment (USA) and Alex Moody for Sky Studios (UK). Hendricks and O’Dowd are also serving as executive producers, whilst Liz Gill is series producer. NBCUniversal Global Distribution is in charge of the show’s international sales on behalf of Sky Studios.
The series is set to premiere on Sky and streaming service Now in Ireland and the UK in 2024.
