The training programme devoted to the challenges involved in co-writing international series, Going European, is back for a second edition. Launched last year by the CNC, this initiative funded by the European Commission’s MEDIA programme is organised in partnership with Series Mania (France), the co-production and networking market Conecta Fiction & Entertainment (Spain) and the Sarajevo Film Festival - CineLink Industry Days (Bosnia-Herzegovina).

On the agenda for these five author pairs are three, one-week-long work sessions, held during three different partner events - the first of which kicked off on 14 March during Series Mania in Lille – and led by Austrian showrunner Jacob Groll. Workshops and masterclasses focusing on the challenges specific to devising, selling and broadcasting organically international series are scheduled to take place, during which well-known professionals will share their experience of the international series world and discuss the creative, financial, legal and environmental issues pertaining to this format, as well as the production, distribution and promotion of the latter. Standing tall amongst the five pairs selected for this year’s programme is the duo composed of Slovenia’s Sonja Prosenc (The Tree [+lee también:

).

The full complement of author pairs for 2024  - in addition to Sonja Prosenc (Slovenia) and Teona Mitevska (Macedonia) – are Nadja Dumouchel (Germany) and Nicolas Ducray (France), Judit Banhazi (Hungary) and Pierre Puget (France), Paul-Ravzan Macovei (Romania) and Simon P.R. Bewick (France), and Alex Balassa (Hungary) and Ewelina Agata Chyzynska (Poland).

Funded by the European Commission’s MEDIA programme over a three-year period (2023-2025), this course will support five author pairs per year - 30 professionals overall – as they embark upon co-writing international projects.

The five author pairs will be chosen annually by the CNC (from among the recipients of the film centre’s international co-production co-writing subsidy) and its partners, with a view to creating a group of authors who are diverse in terms of their experiences, backgrounds and nationalities, but united in their desire to share their experience and promote international co-writing. The CNC and its partners will draw on the feedback and works produced by its participants to establish and distribute a directory of good practices for the co-writing and international co-production of series.
