The International Screen Institute (ISI), based in Vienna, is now accepting applications for its 2024 programme of autumn courses. Renowned for offering high-quality training for film, television and media professionals, ISI is dedicated to fostering innovation, collaboration and professional excellence in a dynamic and diverse learning environment. The upcoming courses include Market Ready: Documentary in September, and Sustainability Management in October, targeting professionals from around the globe.

The Market Ready: Documentary course is designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills to navigate the documentary film market successfully. It caters to industry professionals involved in presenting, negotiating, selling or acquiring documentary projects in a B2B context, including producers, filmmakers, distributors, and marketing and sales experts.

The course provides a comprehensive understanding of the documentary market, including current trends, challenges and opportunities. Participants will receive training in pitching and presentation, refining project packages, negotiating agreements, and securing sales and distribution deals. The programme features mentoring sessions offering personalised consultancy for individual documentary projects. Course leaders Julia Short and Satesh Mathura, along with other industry experts, will deliver an intensive programme comprising case studies, practical exercises and individual mentoring.

Aimed at filmmakers and industry professionals, Sustainability Management provides a holistic approach to sustainability across all film-related areas, from scriptwriting and production to distribution and impact. It covers social sustainability topics such as leadership, management, collaboration, workplace design, accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion.

Experts from various fields will share strategies and tools to initiate, strengthen and secure sustainable working methods within the film industry. Course directors Djamila Grandits and Zsófia Szemerédy emphasise that the course goes beyond ecological aspects, encompassing economic, cultural and social perspectives to foster a comprehensive understanding of industry dynamics.

The ISI is committed to delivering high-quality training led by industry practitioners who share real-world expertise and insights. The course programme is designed to align with the latest industry trends and technological advancements.

All courses are conducted in English and take place in Vienna. Scholarships are available for professionals from low-capacity countries, with additional funds on request for participants in need.
