The story of The Dance Club, which is now in production, revolves around Johannes, an eccentric psychology student who embarks on a twisted journey. Together with performance artist Rakel, he forms an unconventional club with his patients to help them fight back against those who have caused them pain. As the club grows, Johannes struggles to keep it together, while inconveniently falling head over heels for Rakel.
The leading roles are played by Nils Wetterholm (Caliphate [+lee también:

“I conducted research on today’s ‘wild west’ of psychiatry while writing the script for the film. With this story, I explore why the number of neuropsychiatric diagnoses is increasing in Sweden, using as much humour as love. I am very happy to be creating this film with a fantastic team both in front of and behind the camera,” says Langseth.
“Lisa Langseth’s talent, unique voice and phenomenal ability to find the humour in the absurdity of contemporary life will give the audience an experience beyond the ordinary in The Dance Club. To all Love & Anarchy binge-watchers: fasten your seatbelts because it’s going to be a bumpy ride,” adds Yaba Holst, head of Nordic Acquisition at SF Studios.
The Dance Club is being produced by Meta Film Stockholm, and is a co-production between SF Studios, Film Stockholm, Filmpool Nord, SVT and Storm Films, with support from the Swedish Film Institute, the Norwegian Film Institute and the Nordisk Film & TV Fond. The picture, set to hit Swedish theatres in early autumn next year, will be distributed by SF Studios, whilst Denmark’s REinvent is handling its international sales. Moreover, REinvent will present the film’s first excerpts of footage at the 2025 European Film Market in Berlin.
