For the record, the French filmmaker of Polish origin also garnered considerable acclaim for her short film I Saw the Face of the Devil (unveiled in the 2023 Directors’ Fortnight and awarded the Jean Vigo Prize in the same year, as well as the Grand Prize in Clermont-Ferrand’s national competition this year).

Penned by the director herself, the story revolves around Nawojka, a young woman wrestling with her monstruous desire who’s convinced that she’s under a strange hereditary curse and who tries to extricate herself from the shackles of her family by way of Sandra, her sultry neighbour who’s come home to the village...
