It is with a beautiful line-up that French sales agent Memento International (directed by Émilie Georges) will land at the European Film Market (13-19 February) of the 75th Berlinale. Good deals are therefore on the horizon, in particular thanks to three films in Official Selection.

After getting noticed in the Berlinale Forum in 2019 with Mother, I Am Suffocating. ficha de la película], the filmmaker from Lesotho has this time weaved a poetic allegory about his childhood, an ode to cinema and an internal wink at his mother. Through fragmented narratives and mythical images, he develops an obsessing reflection about dislocation and belonging. The production was led by French outfit Agat Films – Ex Nihilo and Lesotho company Mokoari Street Media with German outfit Seera Films.

The Memento International sales team led by Alexandre Moreau will be negotiating for two titles selected in Panorama. The former, the US-Taiwanese-British production Dreams in Nightmares by US filmmaker Shatara Michelle Ford, centres on three thirty-something black and queer women going on a trip through the Midwest in search of a lost friend. The latter, The Ugly Stepsister [+lee también:

ficha de la película] by Norwegian filmmaker Emilie Blichfeldt, which just had its world premiere in Sundance in the Midnight section, revisits the story of Cinderella between comedy and horror film in a kingdom where beauty is a brutal affair. The production is led by Mer Film (Norway) with Lava Films (Poland), Zentropa Sweden (Sweden) and Motor Productions (Denmark) in co-production.

At the EFM, Memento International will also be surfing on Atropia by Hailey Gates, winner of the Grand Prize in the US Dramatic competition in Sundance, a film produced by the Ways & Means (US), Luca Guadagnino for Frenesy Films (Italy) and Naima Abed and Émilie Georges for Paradise City (France-UK).

Also in the lineup are the films in post-production Unidentified by Saudi filmmaker Haifaa Al-Mansour, the Italian-French co-production Primavera by Damiano Michieletto (led by Indigo Film and starring Tecla Insolia and Michele Riondino in the part of Antonio Vivaldi) and Nino In Paradise by Belgian filmmaker Laurent Micheli (article).
