Much like his debut, his sophomore feature is a chaotic and cathartic comedy-drama set in the area between both sides of the Italian-Slovenian border. The plot follows siblings Petra and Jure who want to re-purpose their old lakeside house. To raise money for such a venture, they get involved in the search for a lost dog, hoping to get a substantial financial reward. They cross paths with the ruthless entrepreneur Nicola. When their plan turns sour, Christmas turns into a nightmare riddled with slaps and plot twists.
The script for the film was the first product of the series of scriptwriting residencies operating under the umbrella of the 2025 European Culture Capital GO!2025 shared by Gorizia in Italy and Nova Gorica in Slovenia. The cast is lead by young Italian actors Adalgisa Manfrida and Massimiliano Motta, who play Petra and Jure respectively. The cast also includes Giuseppe Battiston (recently glimpsed in Vincenzo Alfieri’s The Body [+lee también:

The Last Slap was produced by Michele Neri for Staragara IT in co-production with the Slovenian production company SPOK Films represented by co-producer Jožko Rutar, in association with RAI Cinema and RTV Slovenia, making for the first collaboration between these two national televisions. It was supported by the Slovenian Film Centre, the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Fund, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission, as well as by the Gorica Film Commission, for which this is a first project since its founding last year, also as a part of the European Culture Capital efforts.
