Tribeca Enterprises, the Portuguese broadcasting company SIC and Lisbon City Council have announced the return of Tribeca Festival Lisboa for its second year, now extended to a three-day event unspooling from 30 October-1 November. Following the success of its inaugural edition, the international extension of New York’s Tribeca Festival will once again take place at Unicorn Factory Lisboa in the Beato Innovation District, offering an even more diverse line-up of films, series, music showcases and live discussions.
Building on the momentum of its first year, Tribeca Festival Lisboa 2025 will present an expanded selection of US independent films, Portuguese productions, podcasts and interactive experiences. The festival will also feature live talks with international and local industry figures.
Jane Rosenthal, co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises, expressed enthusiasm for the festival’s return: “Last year, the city of Lisbon welcomed Tribeca with open arms, and we found a home away from home, a creative haven buzzing with inspiration and innovation. This year, we’re thrilled to return for the second annual Tribeca Festival Lisboa. Tribeca believes that cities flourish when their artistic communities are supported, which is why this partnership means so much to us, and we’re honoured to continue to share our global platform with the city’s incredible talent.”
Francisco Pedro Balsemão, CEO of Impresa, the parent company of SIC, emphasised the significance of this collaboration: “Year one of Tribeca Festival Lisboa was an amazing and unique experience for Portuguese audiences. We are thrilled to host this event once again, where we will ramp up the talent, quality content and unforgettable talks. We thank Bob, Jane and the Tribeca team for their unwavering partnership, and are eager to write this new and exciting chapter together with them.”
The inaugural Tribeca Festival Lisboa opened with the Portuguese premiere of Sean Baker’s critically acclaimed film Anora, winner of the Palme d’Or and Best Picture at the Academy Awards. The festival also featured discussions with industry luminaries such as Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, Whoopi Goldberg, Patty Jenkins, Griffin Dunne, Chazz Palminteri, Ricardo Araújo Pereira, Daniela Ruah, Sara Sampaio, Joaquim de Almeida and César Mourão.
Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas welcomed the festival’s continued presence in the city: “The Tribeca Festival is back in Lisbon, reinforcing our commitment to culture and artistic innovation. Hosting this prestigious festival at the Unicorn Factory not only highlights the city's creative energy, but also solidifies Lisbon as a major global cultural hub. It is an honour to welcome Tribeca once again, and we look forward to the enriching experiences it will bring to our community.”
Tribeca Festival Lisboa is part of Tribeca Enterprises’ broader international strategy, which has previously seen expansions to cities such as Doha, Los Angeles and Miami. The Lisbon edition marks a significant step in further strengthening Tribeca as an important global platform for film, television and digital storytelling.
